Back to blog...

This is it, Twitter has finally enabled users to compose and schedule organic Tweets from the web app. Too good to be true? Although Twitter has been experimenting for a while with native scheduling, this time it seems like the social media giant took the plunge. Let’s take a closer look.

Really intuitive, Twitter managed to make scheduling as simple as adding a picture, before sending a post, simply click on the calendar icon which enables you to choose the date and time you want to schedule your tweet. It is worth mentioning that you can schedule retweets too. The social media giant also added a well-thought feature called the “Unsent Tweets” tab, it allows you to create drafts and save them for later, and you can also view all the Tweets you scheduled in the same place. Another cool feature, the Tweets you scheduled using TweetDeck will also appear in the “Unsent Tweets” tab, so that you don’t lose track of where you are. It is important to note that the new feature has not yet been rolled out yet for iOs or Android. So if your plan was to start scheduling your tweets from your bed, you will have to wait, sorry.

For a quick step by step guide on how to use the new Twitter scheduling feature, watch this video.

Now, if for any reason you don’t want to use this to schedule your tweets, but you don’t want to pay for a third party scheduling tool, don’t worry, you still have some free options.

Use TweetDeck
TweetDeck is an existing Twitter feature that enables people to schedule Tweets. You can manage several Twitter accounts from one main account, personalise your dashboard with the streams you want, and even add up to 200 team members! However, sadly nothing is perfect, we wouldn’t recommend using TweetDeck if you plan on scheduling a lot as it can become glitchy.

Get a free third party tool
Some social media management tools like Buffer have free plans. You will be limited with the number of accounts you can manage with a free plan, but if you just want to manage your own brand this is the perfect option. And if you really want to schedule your tweets from your bed, Buffer also has a free iOs and Android app!
